Mission Statement

The mission of Hospice of Haines is to provide volunteer care and support to the terminally, critically ill and their families to help ensure comfort, dignity, and choice. We also provide education and support to community members regarding the care giving, dying and grieving processes. Download our one page overview (PDF)

Our Services

The Hospice Program:
Trained Volunteers assist terminally ill individuals who wish to remain in their homes in the Chilkat Valley.

The Bridge Program:
Trained volunteers assist the chronically or critically ill without a terminal diagnosis buy whose needs are not adequately addressed through existing services. Bridge services are offered contingent on hospice volunteer availability, with priority given to the terminally ill.

The Bereavement Program:
Individuals attend a grief group or receive one-on-one support. Children and teens may receive grief supports from trained adult volunteers. "Hope Baskets" are offered to individuals & families who have lost loved ones. "Hope through Healing" supports the bereaved through correspondence.

Community Education Programs & Annual Trainings:
Offered FREE to anyone who would like to learn more about care giving, and the death and dying process.
